About Astra
Astra, now in a NJ foster home, is a cute girl who is looking for her new family.
Astra was abandoned in South NJ (left tied to a pole!) and taken in by a rescue partner. She is a nice, friendly, playful girl. Astra has been great with the dogs in her foster home and big and small neighborhood dogs (but she was afraid of one big 90-lb male that she met!). Astra loves to snuggle, and prefers to sleep UNDER the covers. Her ideal home is a fairly active one; she enjoys walks and play time in the yard, but she also enjoys couch time. Astra loves to cuddle up close. She's good with the neighbor kids and likes to try to give them kisses.
Astra tried lure coursing at a recent event, and seemed to really have fun. She definitely is aware of birds and squirrels in the yard, but isn't overly prey-driven. She likes to chase balls and sometimes even brings them back.
Astra is gentle with her foster mom, who uses a walker and wheelchair. She's very considerate.
We're not sure what to say about cats -- she was fine with three cats in her South Jersey foster home, but did not get along with the cats in a possible adoptive home, and even had a couple of incidents with the dog in that home who wasn't thrilled with how playful Astra was. She is great in her foster home with 5 or more small dogs, however, and has several large doggie friends too .
Astra is up to date on vaccines, is now spayed and microchipped, and has tested negative for heartworm disease. Her adoption fee is $450.
Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home.
