About Bear

Meet Bear – A True Gentle Giant

Bear is a 13-year-old, 75-pound, majestic tri-color Border Collie mix who will steal your heart the moment you meet him. Recently returned to CAWS after his family had to move overseas, Bear is now searching for a forever home where he can enjoy love, comfort, and companionship in his golden years.

This stunning gentleman is on a weight-loss journey—he needs to lose about 15 more pounds to reach a healthy weight, and he's already making great progress.

Bear has a calm, easygoing temperament and gets along beautifully with all the dogs in his foster home—big or small, male or female. He's fully house-trained, rides like a dream in the car (with the help of his personal fold-up ramp), and is perfectly content lounging in his open-door crate or stretched out on the living room carpet until it's time to head outside.

Though he does have some arthritis, he's on medication to help manage it, and as the weight comes off, it should improve even more. He'll thrive in a home with a backyard, only a few stairs, and people who are around during the day—whether retired or working from home. That said, Bear can be fully trusted alone in the house when needed.

Beyond his practicality, Bear is simply magnificent—graceful, gentle, and full of quiet dignity. He has no meanness in him, only warmth and loyalty. With an occasional brushing (or a spa day to keep his gorgeous coat shining), Bear will remain the showstopper he is.

Bear is patiently waiting for a family who will make his remaining years the very best of his life. If you're looking for a glorious, unconditional friend to share your days with, Bear is ready for his happily ever after. Schedule a meet-and-greet today—you'll be glad you did.

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process.
All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $100.
