About Bernie

Meet Bernie – 65 lb Wolfadoodle, Once-in-a-Lifetime Companion

2½-year-old Irish Wolfhound × Poodle | Neutered Male | Low-shedding velvet coat

Bernie is the dog people stop on the street to meet — tall, wavy-haired, soulful eyes, and a gentle presence that makes everyone whisper "What kind of dog IS that?!"

With his family, Bernie is pure love:

• A total velcro dog who wants to be wherever you are (preferably touching you)

• Lives for pets, lean-ins, and quiet "I'm home!" celebrations

• A complete gentleman when left alone — no destruction, no chewing, just waits patiently by the door for your return

• Jumps happily into the car, head out the window, tongue flapping like a flag of joy

Bernie is brilliant and highly trainable:

• Hyper-intelligent — learns rules and commands in 1-2 repetitions

• Respects "off furniture," "leave it," boundaries, etc., the moment you set them

• Strong recall and stops mid-chase with a single verbal correction (yes, even when a squirrel or cat darts by)

• Same with chickens — he'll think about it, but one calm "no" and he chooses you instead

Personality notes (because honesty gets the right home):

• Shy with some new people at first, but warms up in minutes with calm introductions

• Reactive to very loud/rambunctious kids, fireworks, popping balloons — he's sensitive and will do best in a quieter, adult or older-kids home

• Protective once he knows his territory — barks to alert at strangers at the door or unusual sounds (a true "I've got your back" guard dog without aggression)

• Plays beautifully with other dogs and loves doggy friends

Bernie's non-negotiables for happiness:

• A securely fenced yard for daily zoomies and fetch marathons (this young man has energy to burn!)

• Daily walks and playtime — he's athletic and joyful

• A calm, loving home that understands his big heart comes in a sensitive package

• Someone who wants a loyal shadow who chooses you over everything else in the world

If you're looking for a breathtaking, brilliant, devoted best friend who will love you harder than any dog you've ever met — and who just needs the right calm, active forever family to shine — Bernie is your dog.

He's truly special. He won't last long. Apply today and get ready to have your heart permanently claimed by 65 lbs of wavy-coated magic.
