Buster is an all-around sweetheart who is currently in boarding and seeking a foster or furever home! This handsome adult Pyr mix came to us as an owner surrender from a Virginia shelter, and he can't wait to have some toys and a comfy bed to call his own. With his soft, short coat and adorably super curly tail, Buster is quite the charmer—but it's his affectionate personality that really steals the show! This love-bug absolutely adores being with people and will melt your heart when he puts his head against your leg and gazes directly into your eyes, pleading for ear rubs and chin scratches. Buster is very healthy and full of energy, walking well on leash once you establish yourself as the leader with firm, confident guidance. He's a smart boy who knows "come" (especially when food is involved!) and loves going for car rides. Whether you're relaxing on the couch or moving about the house, Buster is perfectly content to plop down and hang out with you, particularly if there's a big pillow or cushy dog bed nearby! He hasn't had exposure to cats yet, but he shows friendly interest in other dogs, wagging his tail when they pass by his kennel. If you're looking for a devoted companion who'll shower you with affection and become your constant shadow, Buster is your guy!

Medical: Neutered, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. This dog travels with an Interstate Health Certificate required by the USDA confirming that all the above criteria have been met.

Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant's ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
