BIO: This little girl is a sweetie, and once she warms up to you, she's happy as a clam!

Chewy came from Ohio when her owner had to give her up because she was fighting with her female fur sibling, and the owner feared the outcome. Chewy was scared when she first came to us, but once she got to know us, she opened up and is now very friendly. She loves the male foster dog in the foster home and even plays with him. She really enjoys the fenced yard, and given her young age and love of the outdoors, we want her to have it so she can play and run.

Chewy loves lap time and will beg to get in your lap if you are sitting at your computer, watching TV, or just having quiet time.

Because she is a couple of pounds overweight, we want someone who will commit to keeping her at her ideal weight, which we believe should be around 12 pounds.

Our must-haves for beautiful Chewy include:

A fenced yard Another small, young dog for her to play with Someone who can be home more often than not No apartments, high-rises, or condos, as she likes to bark when someone comes in the door If you meet our requirements and wish to adopt Chewy, please visit our website and complete our online adoption application. Out-of-state adoptions east of the Mississippi River are welcome, and we do help with transports.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
