About Ellum

We rescued Ellum from the Deep Ellum rail station in Dallas, TX back in 2016. She was approximately 7 weeks old when we found her living under the rail tracks at the station. She has been a sweet companion to us since then, but she is a little bit feral. She loves to snuggle and purr in your lap, but is not too keen on being petted, as she has an aversion to hands when she sees them coming near her. She currently resides in our home with 9 other cats, some of which are also rescued and in need of loving homes. We strongly believe that sharing her territory with so many other cats has exacerbated her anxiety and increased her feral tendencies. We suspect that she would be much happier and sociable with the proper medication, but we can't afford this. Her favorite thing these days is sunbathing in the window and sleeping on our bed or her cat tree. She can be very affectionate and will happily give you head butts and lots of purrs, but it's best to let her come to you first. She is not shy about approaching you with a friendly vocal greeting and she will let you know when she would like some snuggle time, which is usually at night before bed. Our goal is to find a loving home where she will be happy and less stressed out. That said, we are working with a time constraint, as we are moving to another country in the next few months. We would like to see her in a new loving home before we have to relocate, so we are willing to explore every option available, except for euthanasia. We cannot stress enough how urgent this situation is. Ellum has been a wonderful addition to our family, and we will be heartbroken to lose her, but we know that she will be much happier in a less crowded home. If you are interested or know of any resources that might be willing to assist, we would be grateful. Ellum is current on all vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. If you are located outside of Texas, we are willing to transport Ellum to you.
