About Josie
Josie is a very special little cavalier in search of her forever family.
She arrived to rescue with a horrible uterine infection (pyometra) and had emergency spay surgery. She is feeling so much better now and will be available after she goes in for her very much needed dental.
Josie does have a grade III-IV heart murmur with mild heart enlargement. She has been started on a heart medication (Vetmedin) and will need this medication lifelong. She will need a family willing and able to provide her ongoing cardio care.
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:
Physically fenced in yard to keep her safe - no invisible fences. Confident resident dog to help show Josie the ropes is preferred. Financially stable family willing and able to provide Josie with her needed heart medication and keep up with her cardio checks, etc.
*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.
Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they generally require extra time to settle in and acclimate. Skills like house training, leash walking, and mastering stairs may require a little extra practice. However, with understanding, patience, and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
