About Lance in IL - Longs to Be Your Sidekick!

*** Check Out My Video Album Below! ***

Hi there! My name is Lance and I am seeking my furever person and new best friend! Will you be my new parent, my partner in crime, my walking buddy, my hang out on lazy Sunday afternoon's sidekick—oops I mean, Can I be YOUR sidekick?! I want to tell you, I really like people – a LOT – and would love a one-person home. A person who understands and loves Great Pyrenees, and that it is my nature to want to protect my home. My favorite things include meatballs, and hanging out with my person - human cuddles are the BEST! - and I totally fit in any human's lap, so get ready for some big-dog snuggles! Oh...I almost forgot to tell you – cats are welcome, I am willing to share you with one or two of those silly little felines. As for dogs, they're okay - I get along with my canine foster sister, but we don't hang out or play or anything, as I'm just not that interested in other dogs. I would love a yard, so that I can lay out and keep an eye on things, especially from a high vantage point, such as a deck! A 5-foot fence works well for me. I have medium-energy and really enjoy keeping an eye on my yard, whether that's watching from the sunroom or outside. I love being outdoors, and I promise not to dig or let the crazy squirrels run amuck. I am crate trained, house trained, LOVE leash walks, and know what the humans mean when they ask me to "sit," "wait" and "back up." If you choose me to be your mate, I promise I will absolutely love you unconditionally. I will walk with you to get the mail, lay at your feet while you are watching a ball game, play with toys with you, and relish in the time you spend brushing my long, soft coat (gotta keep a guy looking good!). My ideal home would be in a quiet neighborhood (fireworks are scary!). Please put in an application to get to know me – you could be the person to make my world complete!

NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn't end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant's ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
