About Merida AKA Mairda ~
Meet Merida! This adorable ~3-year-old Maltese/Yorkie mix has been with me for a couple of weeks now, and WOW — this boy is *non-stop fun*!
Merida is *active* and ready for adventure — definitely not a match for couch potatoes! He's awesome on leash, super curious, and would thrive with an outdoorsy or on-the-go family.
He's already mastered "sit" and is catching on to fetch like a champ. He's a rockstar in the car, a great eater, and gets along well with the other dogs in the house. We have recently discovered he would do best as either an only dog or with a dog who isn't submissive as he can be a little bossy if not put in his place! Sleeps in his crate like a good boy and is making steady progress with house training!
Overall, Merida is a happy-go-lucky little guy who *loves his people* and would be a joyful addition to many types of families.

If Merida would be interviewing for a job it would be a camp counselor. He absolutely loves camping, hiking and kayaking. Now how many dog come wanting to be in a tent, sleeping back or carry a back pack.

Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.
Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else.
We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters.

We are 100% volunteer powered. Volunteers process the applications and need time above their personal needs and full-time jobs to process the apps.

Our adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies, HW check, and microchip.
Russell Rescue dogs are fostered in the Middle Tennessee area. We do not ship/transport our dogs, so the approved adopter must be willing to travel to Tennessee. Russell Rescue will try to first place our rescue dogs locally or in surrounding states.
Russell Rescue is not open to the public for visiting hours. We do not have a physical location of our own.
