This is to partly cover her lifesaving expenses that our 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue incurred to give her a second chance at life. __________________ Breed and Hair Notes Rosie has hair and not fur. She is an incredible Doodle breed that is so sought after for obvious reasons. She just deserves a family who will commit to her for life and not just want her in the short-term because she's highly valued. PLEASE NOTE: Rosie's hair will grow as it is not fur. She will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care. Rosie was so gentle in the bath. She was very matted, and we could barely see her eyes when she first arrived. She was incredible for her groom! She kissed our groomer throughout the entire haircut. ___________________ Personality Rosie! Dear, dear Rosie. Rosie has been through a lot; she's been re-homed already in her very short life. The owner surrender notes from animal control mentioned that they had her five months and didn't want her anymore because she didn't like being crated. Would YOU? Rosie is timid at first. She initially acted as though she hadn't been around many people. Once she knows she can trust you, she'll want to be your friend. It doesn't take long for her to warm up to people she knows are "dog people." She can tell the difference. She's a clever Saint. Rosie hasn't been around many dogs, so she's still getting used to them. With this in mind, she needs to be an only dog right now. Or she needs to be adopted by someone with a lot of patience and willingness to train her to trust the other dogs in their home. Rosie is so ready and in want of her person. She greets people she trusts with a hug and a kiss. She is so gentle and sweet. Rosie is so eager to please, and she'll follow your lead. She'll need some gentle guidance to understand your expectations. Basic foundational skills training sessions with a certified professional positive reinforcement trainer are required for Rosie's adoption. Just a few classes are needed, and they are fun. It's an excellent way to connect with your newly adopted Saint, too. You can enjoy meeting Rosie in her short film. Watch her run with glee in our sanctuary garden! : https://vimeo.com/1124523639 ___________________ Ideal Home It is ideal for Rosie to be in a home with only adults. Her current timidity needs to be respected, and placing her with young children 24/7 would not be ideal for her. She would be fine meeting respectful children, but she should not live with them at this point in her life. Rosie will especially thrive in a home that can give her companionship day and night. She would be okay for a few hours on her own if you provided her with puzzles and things to do while you're away. But she is truly in want of being around someone most of the time. Considering how she spent the first months of her life crated, and it was most unpleasant for her, please do not plan on using one. If crates are a must for you, Rosie is not your girl. Plan on sharing your sofa and bedroom with Rosie. She will want to be by your side, no matter where you are and what you are doing. If you have a very secure fenced-in backyard for running, playing and can safely give her frequent walks, this would be ideal for dear Rosie. ___________________ Love and Commitment At Animal Saints Rescue Society, our goal is to keep dogs out of overcapacity animal control facilities and out of a re-homing cycle. We place the dogs we save into lifetime families. With this in mind, we seek families who understand that an adoption is a lifetime commitment. The families who adopt from us believe that love is not a feeling, it is a decision. Some humans still believe it's okay to try out a dog for a few weeks, a few months, or even a few years — then discard when they get bored or don't want to deal with emotional or physical ailments. We are looking for the empathetic, kind, and patient humans in this world who view these Animal Saints as family, and they will do whatever it takes to give them what they need. Will that family be you? We look forward to finding out and receiving your application!
