About ROXIE

Meet Mac the husky and Roxie the Lhasa Apso! These bonded besties are looking for a home together where they can be doted on. Although "seniors" they enjoy going out on short walks with their people. Mac is the more outgoing of the two but then motions for little Roxie to come on over and say hi to people. Both dogs are generally mellow and may prefer more of a laid-back home environment where they can sunbath, cuddle on couches and soak up loving. A home with other mellow dogs is likely a fit but should do some speed dating at the Shelter prior to adoption. Mac and Roxie would likely do best in a home without cats or small animals. They have lived with young children, men and women.

Their adoption fee is 2 for 1 to help keep these bonded buddies together. If you are open to opening your heart up to a pair of seniors in their retirement years, come meet Mac & Rosie today!

The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering "Pawsitivity Bucks" with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!

Please note: Our Santa Cruz location's Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end "meet and greets" (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you'd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
