About Stella

Name: Stella Breed: Egyptian Mau baladi Sex: F Age: approx 6 months

Good with dogs? Not sure because she was bitten by a dog on the street. Good with cats? She was good with her litter mates, but they're the only cats I've seen her interact with. Good with kids? I would expect so, but it is untested. Good with people? Excellent Energy level? Typical playful kitten, Litter trained? Yes, Health concerns? No Behavioural concerns? No Spayed/Neutered? Yes Microchipped? Yes, PERSONALITY Very, very clever. Very affectionate. Has bonded very quickly to me after 1 week in the home + feeding on the streets for 2 weeks. Very affectionate with other people (men and women) if I'm there. Also very vocal, especially when something is new or she wants something, or she is greeting you. When I took her in, she had a swollen leg and couldn't walk on it. The vet said it was most probably caused by a dog bite. Thankfully, after a course of antibiotics, she is now healed

All of our cats for adoption are sterilized, fully vaccinated, treated for fleas/worms, are negative for FIV/FELV, have a registered microchip, and come with their travel crate. Adoptions are on a cost-recovery basis and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Potential adopters for our Persian cats need to have prior Persian cat experience as they need to be well cared for. Grooming, dental, and veterinarian exams are done once a year, and a good quality brand of cat food such as Royal Canin, Hills Science Diet, or Purina Pro plan is the upper tier level with a black label.

We are a rescue and get what we get in terms of cats in need of a home. In no way do we work with breeders or buy the cats from the Friday markets so we can put them up for adoption as a rescue.

Native Mau Cats of Egypt are the oldest known descendants of Egyptian domesticated cats (which have provided a partial foundation for the recent Egyptian Mau cat breed), and they are one of only a few naturally occurring, small, spotted cats in the world. Adoptions are on a cost-recovery basis and by an approved application. NVEcats aims to increase education in Egypt and around the world about these magnificent and intelligent cats.

Cats and kittens are not adopted out on a "first-come, first-serve" basis. We choose to match our applicants and cats based on what we deem as best suited for that particular cat or kitten.
