About Sterling
Sterling DOB: 3/16/2025 Adoption Fee: $250 Sterling's journey began behind a shopping center, where a LapCats foster responded to a Facebook plea about a friendly cat abandoned in a levy. What seemed like a solo rescue mission quickly turned into the discovery of a full feline family — a brave momma cat, Anastasia, and her kittens, including sweet little Sterling. Through conversations with locals, it was learned that Anastasia had belonged to a homeless person who could no longer care for her or another cat (sadly, still not located). While kindhearted folks had been feeding the family, no one had stepped in to truly rescue them. That's where LapCats came in. Momma was easily coaxed into a carrier, and over the next few days, traps were set with tasty snacks to bring the kittens to safety. Sterling was the second to be secured! Despite signs asking people not to feed the cats (so trapping would work), someone decided to have a little fun and left a box that read, "We trapped the kittens for you," containing two toy kittens with water bowls underneath. Gotta love a jokester! Unfortunately, not all of Sterling's siblings could be found, even after weeks of searching. But now, Sterling is thriving in foster care, and this once-cautious kitten is blooming. Sterling is learning the ropes of indoor life — toys, soft beds, tasty food, and even the joy of gentle pets. He's still a bit shy, but he purrs up a storm and is warming up more each day. He's curious, sweet, and ready for someone patient and kind to help him continue building trust. If you're looking for a kitten with a gentle soul and a survivor's heart, Sterling just might be your guy. The first step in our adoption process is the application which can be found on our website lapcats.org. All of our cats have tested negative for FELV and are fully vaccinated. They have not only been spayed or neutered but have also been treated for worms, fleas, and have been micro chipped. We will register their microchip for you, provide you with a free exam visit to a participating Sacramento veterinarian, and a goodie bag! We do not do out of state adoptions for the safety of our cats.
