About Stuart

Meet Stuart – The Fluffy Little Fighter! Stuart is an impossibly fluffy, tiny French Bulldog with a mighty heart. Born Aug 31st with a cleft palate, he was tube-fed from birth and is still learning how to eat on his own. Because of this, he's smaller than most pups his age—but he's growing bigger every day as he gets better at eating. He currently drinks from a water bottle instead of a bowl so he doesn't accidentally take in too much water through his cleft.

What does his cleft mean long term? Most cleft palate pups—just like Stuart—learn to eat and drink normally as they grow. In over 13 years of raising cleft pups, we've rarely needed surgery, and don't recommend it unless a dog develops chronic sinus infections. These surgeries can cause more issues than they solve, and Stuart has been thriving without them.

Because he was hand-raised, Stuart is very bonded to people and loves being close to his humans. He's happiest when he's snuggled up in your arms or following you around the house. His eyes appear to be extra sensitive to sunlight, and he may have some level of albinism, so wearing doggles (doggy goggles) outdoors in bright light will help protect his vision.
